While we acknowledge the positive effects that have come with the introduction of smartphones into the market, there are some downsides to that as well. According to studies, smartphone addicts suffer from both psychological and physical effects.

They include suffering from insomnia, depression, anxiety and the gadgets have been a cause of breakups for many marriages.

In that case, smartphone addiction just like any other type of addiction is not good at all and therefore there is a need to resist the habit.

As aforementioned, spending more time on your smartphone is a behavior that needs to stop and it should have stopped yesterday.

Here are some ideas on how to quit this dangerous behavior:

Put your phone on “do not disturb mode”

Many smartphones have this feature.

Use it to set a time where you cannot use your phone.

For example, from 7pm to 7am, you should take the time to spend with your loved ones and family.

At this point, you do not need to use your smartphone unless it is an emergency.

That is exactly what the “do not disturb mode” helps you to achieve.

You will not have the time to browse or check out the latest products in the market.

Obey the warnings in public places

If you are a smartphone addict, obeying the various warnings and notices at public places will help you minimize on the usage of your phone.

For example, in banks, hospitals or gas stations, you will be advised to shut down your phone or not to use it.

While at these places, following the instructions will restrict you from overusing your phone.

Get other hobbies

In the event that your smartphone is low on battery, do not charge it while using it at the same time.

Put your gadget on the charger and leave it to charge.

In the meantime, look for other hobbies to do such as playing soccer, singing or reading storybooks.

As time goes by, you will notice that you will have much of your attention focused on other hobbies that you will forget about your smartphone.

Budget yourself wisely

In most cases, most smartphone addicts spend their time on the internet.

You can curb this problem by setting a specific amount of data that you would want to use in a day.

Once the data limit is reached, stop using your phone and wait for the following day.

Self-discipline is critical in this method.

In addition to that, do not be quick to purchase any of the latest devices in the market.

Thing is, technology evolves everyday and there is no way that you will compete with it.

This will not only save you from your addiction but also help you on planning your finances better.

Smartphone addiction can cause both physical and psychological problems.

This begs the need for smartphone addicts to quit the behavior in the shortest time possible.

Some of the ways through they can achieve that include budgeting wisely, setting a daily limit and using the “do not disturb feature” on their gadgets.
